Mission
The mission of Utrecht Theological University is to study the Bible and the reality of God in order to form new generations for their service in church and society. We do this in line with the Reformed tradition, which we continually re-examine, update and connect to the world of today and tomorrow, in which Christ is in the process of coming. Below you can read more about the vision of Utrecht Theological University.
Vision
We work on our mission from a deep sense of dependence on God. Our academic community is committed, inspiring and trustworthy. These three words represent our faithful engagement, our relationship to God, his world and each other, and the quality of our work. Together, these words form the vision of our university.
Committed
We are committed to God, his revelation, his church and his world in everything we do. In our work we have an eye for our fellow man, for God’s creation, and as a university community we are deeply committed to our profession and to each other. Our work has eloquence for today’s world.
Inspiring
We are believing scientists, living out of Jesus Christ and loving God. Our focus on God means that we are humble, seeking and praying, but also unconcerned, bold and expectant along the way. We want to inspire and lead each other and others in a life of faith.
Reliable
We do academic work. For us, this means that we think honestly and thoroughly and are not satisfied with easy answers. We relate to the current state of our field. We conduct high-quality, innovative and relevant research.
