Education Master Theology (General)

Are you working in theology or a similar field? Do the 1-year master’s in Theology General (60 EC)!

You want to deepen your knowledge but do not want to become a pastor. You can take up a staff position in churches and Christian organizations. Or you can be employed in academic education, higher or secondary education and in the fields of journalism, public ministry and ethical or spiritual counseling.

The Master’s in Theology General (60 EC) focuses on a broader theological professional field than the Master’s theology Pastor. Think of professions such as: journalist, editor, teacher (VO/HBO/MBO/WO), researcher, research assistant, church worker, missionary, youth worker, diaconal worker, church planter, policy officer, missionary, ethicist, historian, Bible translator, (church) consultant.

Admission Requirements

Registration for the Master Theology General is possible once a year (per September 1) on the following grounds:

  • a Bachelor’s degree in Theology obtained at Utrecht Theological University or;
  • a WO Bachelor’s degree in Theology and/or Religious Studies or;
  • a WO Bachelor’s degree in a field of science sufficiently related to Theology, supplemented by a premaster or;
  • an HBO Bachelor’s degree in theology (Religious Pastoral Work, Church Work or Religious Education), supplemented by a pre-master’s degree.

A request for admission or a request to establish a pre-master’s program is evaluated by the Admissions Committee.

Registration for the master’s degree is via studielink.

When registering we need the following documents from you: (submit via toelatingscommissie@tukampen.nl):

  • A motivation letter of approximately 1 A4
  • Copies of relevant diplomas and transcripts
  • Copy of identity document
  • Official passport photo

Teaching in the premaster and Master Theology General is given on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays.
