Education Bachelor Theology

The Bachelor of Theology at Utrecht Theological University is a broad program. You gain a lot of knowledge about the Bible, God and the Christian faith and learn to connect that knowledge to current questions in society and science. You will gain deeper insight and be personally shaped. With a broad bachelor’s degree in theology, you can move on to various master’s programs, also at other universities.

You can choose from two routes after a propaedeutic year:

Route 1 consists of the classical theological subjects and the context of the church. Afterwards you can do the pastor’s master or continue with theological research.

Route 2 is a broad bachelor’s that focuses on religion and society, giving you a wide choice of advanced studies. These include ethics, religion and society, cultural history, religious studies or philosophy. Partly this can be done at our own university, but there are also agreements with the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Utrecht, for example, who arrange a good inflow. It is also possible to transfer to non-theological master’s programs at other universities. If you combine our bachelor’s with an educational minor, you can immediately start working in education.
