MIRT: Reformed Theology in a Global World
Apply before May 1
Would you like to be prepared to work as a theologian in the multicultural Dutch society or for a Christian organization abroad?
Utrecht Theological University offers an all-English one-year Master program for this purpose, in which Dutch and international students are welcome: the Master of Intercultural Reformed Theology (MIRT).
From Korea and Indonesia to the USA and Brazil, Reformed theology is still a source of inspiration to be active as a Christian in all areas of life. Students from all parts of the world come to the Theological University to study together that legacy of Calvin, Kuyper and Bavinck.
From the perspective of intercultural theology, we reflect on the contribution of Reformed and neo-Calvinist theology for our “global world” today, near or far. First of all, it is enriching to do this “together with all the saints” (Eph. 3:18). For it opens your eyes to the diversity of church and theology worldwide, and you learn with and from other Christians from different cultures.
What makes the MIRT unique?
The MIRT offers you the opportunity for:
- Intercultural learning from and with theology students from different cultures and contexts
- In-depth exposure to European and Dutch Reformed and neo-Calvinist theology in the context of world Christianity
- Lectures by Dutch and international lecturers
- Reflecting together on the missional relevance of Reformed theology
- Developing academic skills for doing intercultural theology in a multicultural and multireligious world
What can you do with the MIRT?
With the MIRT you can work as a theologian interculturally in the Netherlands or abroad: for example, for churches, Christian mission organizations, missionary projects, with and for migrants or NGOs where working interculturally and dealing with diversity is important. You can also consider further research for doctoral studies.
Apply for MIRT – the Master of Intercultural Reformed Theology if you….
- are interested in intercultural reformed theology
- are open to learning from and with Christians from other contexts and cultures
- have a BA Theology (or a similar WO degree)
Note: You can take individual modules as well as the entire program!
