Kerkrecht.nl
Kerkrecht.nl is the digital knowledge center in the field of church law at Utrecht Theological University. As of 2016, Prof. Dr. C. van den Broeke is responsible for the overall design and leadership of the project.
Purpose
With kerkrecht.nl, we want to be of service to anyone seeking information on applicable church law in Dutch church communities.
For many Dutch church communities a start page has been created (see links under Church communities), which gives access to the church order and to important church law books and documents. There are also such start pages for a representative number of foreign churches from various traditions.
Kerkrecht.nl also aims to support and encourage the practice of church law as a study subject. To that end, under library you will find publications in the field of church law that are no longer available from the publisher. This can be literature in Dutch as well as in other languages.
There is also room for historical documents, e.g. church orders, acts of councils and synods from past centuries.
The site has been set up for idealistic reasons and operates on a non-profit basis.
Which churches are involved?
Kerkrecht.nl primarily contains church law material from the Reformed tradition of Protestantism. This includes both domestic and foreign churches.
In the course of time, the offered material will be extended as much as possible to the church law of all churches present in the Netherlands. Of course, much depends on the cooperation of the relevant church authorities.
Which users do we have in mind?
Kerkrecht.nl is intended to be a knowledge base at the service of anyone seeking information on church law, both for current church use and for educational and other study purposes. These include: church members, theology students, pastors, pastors, catechists, elders, deacons, civil lawyers, notaries, journalists, etc.
